The purpose of Inscape is to serve as a creative outlet for William Jewell College students through the production of a collaborative, professional publication that encourages and inspires creative products across all medias. Edited by a team of student editors from across campus, Inscape features fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, visual and digital art, video, and music created by Jewell students. The publication is sponsored by the WJC English, Art, and Music Departments.

  • The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power

  • This category is fine art which includes sculpture, painting, pen and pencil, pastels, and mixed media

  • Literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm

  • Literature in the form of prose, especially short stories and novels, that describes imaginary events and people

  • Prose writing that is based on facts, real events, and real people, such as biography, memoir, or history

  • The recording, reproducing, or broacasting of moving visual images

  • This category may also include motion graphics

  • Digital creations

  • This category includes photography, digital illustrations, and graphics

  • Sound when recorded, transmitted, or reprodced

  • This category can include instruments, vocals, and technological music, as well as musical pieces by any other recorded noise
